[b]77.[/b] Lokomotiv må ej skjuta tåg af passagerare- eller godswagnar framför sig, utan måste alltid draga det efter sig, utom då det skall hjelpa ett sådant uppför en stigning, eller då det anlitas att sätta ett tåg igång wid en station, eller när ett annat lokomotiv kommit i olag på wägen, i hwilket fall det efteråt kommande lokomotivet må nalkas tåget med stor försiktighet och skjuta det [b]sakta[/b] framför sig, till nästa sidospår eller afwikning, hwarest lokomotivet skall taga sin plats i spetsen af tåget.

[b]78.[/b] Lokomotiv må icke löpa å hufwudspåret med tendern förut, utom på serskild föreskrift af Lokomotiv-Ingenieuren, eller af oundwikligt nödtwång.

[b]79.[/b] Inget lokomotiv må färdas å banan närmare ett annat än [b]1800[/b] fot, eller med andra ord: ett efterföljande lokomotiv må ej nalkas ett föregående inom ett afstånd af 1800 fot, så framt ej annorlunda är för tillfället uttryckligen anbefalldt eller erforderligt.

[b]80.[/b] När, i följd af olyckshändelse eller annan serskild orsak, är oundgängligen nödigt, att lokomotiv, med eller utan tåg, måste stadna å hufwudspåret, eller att ett lokomotiv måste röra sig i orätt riktning å detta spår, skall, om konduktör ej medföljer, lokomotivförare, innan han sätter sitt lokomotiv i gång, sända sin eldare eller annan pålitlig person med en signal till ett afstånd af 1800 fot, för att hejda hwarje annat lokomotiv, som möjligen kan komma på samma spår från motsatt håll mot det, hwari han sjelf ämnar gå. Denne man skall förblifwa stående å nämnde afstånd med signalen, under hela den tid lokomotivet är stilla och stänger banan; men sättes lokomotivet i rörelse, skall han gå framåt med signalen, alltid iakttagande afståndet af 1800 fot framför lokomotivet. Lokomotivförare får wid sådant tillfälle icke drifwa lokomotivet med större hastighet än en half swensk mil i timmen, på det mannen med signalen må wara i stånd att bibehålla det föreskrifna afståndet. Lokomotivförare skall, under det han går åt den orätta leden, låta hwisselpipan tidt och ofta ljuda.

[b]77.[/b] No Engine is allowed to propel a Train of Carriages or Waggons, but must in all cases draw it, except when assisting up inclined planes, or when required to start a Train form a Station, or in case of an Engine being disabled on the road, when the succeeding Engine may propel the Train [i]slowly[/i] (approaching it with great caution) as far as the next shunt or turn out, at which place the propelling Engine shall take the lead.

[b]78.[/b] No Engine is to run on the main Line, Tender foremost, unless by the order of the Locomotive Superintendent, or from unavoidable necessity.

[b]79.[/b] All Engines travelling on the same line shall keep 1800 feet at least apart from each other, that is to say - the Engine which follows shall not approach within 1800 feet of the Engine which goes before, unless expressly required.

[b]80.[/b] When there is an unavoidable necessity, from accident or other special cause, for any Engine with or without a Train to stop on the Main Line, or for any Engine to be moved in the wrong direction upon the Main Line, the Engineman must, if there is no Guard with the Train, send his Fireman or some other competent man, with a Signal to the distance of 1800 feet, before moving his Engine, in order to stop any other Engine, coming on the same Line in an opposite direction to that, in which he is going to move.

This man must remain stationary with his Signal at the said distance during the whole time that the Engine is obstructing the Line, and must proceed with his Signal constantly at the distance of 1800 feet in advance of the Engine, if the Engine is moving in the wrong direction; and the Engineman must not move in the wrong direction at a greater speed than 3½ miles an hour so as to enable the man with the Signal to keep at the above distance in advance of him, frequently sounding his whistle, whilst moving in the wrong direction.
